| WHAT KINDS OF EVENTS DO YOU REVIEW? |
| We review live stage events (plays, reviews, concerts. etc) in Los Angeles and Manhattan, as well as films that are having screenings in LA or in any of the five boroughs of New York City. The event must be presented for at least two weeks. For obvious reasons, we cannot review shows/films that are playing for "one night only." |
| WHAT IF MY FILM OR STAGE PRODUCTION IS PRESENTED FOR LESS THAN TWO WEEKS? |
| Let us know about it anyway! Even if we can't review it, we may be able to write a feature article about it. |
| WHO DOES THE REVIEWING? |
| Most of the reviews are done by the staff of My8by10.com, headed by Content Supervisor James Kass. We also have a stable of talented freelance volunteer reviewers. If you're interested in becoming a reviewer, please visit the Writers Wanted page for more info. |
| WHEN CAN YOU REVIEW OUR EVENT? |
| For live performances, we prefer to send our reviewer during previews or on opening night. The sooner we can get our review online, the more publicity it will generate for your show, and the more relevant it will be for our readers. If submitting a film to review, we request that you send a VHS screening copy of the film at least five days before the premiere screening. Please include a SASE if you want your tape returned. | DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO HAVE YOU REVIEW AN EVENT? |
| Not a dime. Unlike some websites, you do not need to be a member or pay a fee to join before we will review your event. However, we do require that you supply two complimentary tickets (for our reviewer and one guest.) |
| AM I GUARANTEED A REVIEW? |
| We try to review all events submitted to us, but we cannot guarantee that a reviewer will be able to attend, or even that the review will be published on our website. We do try our best. |
| OKAY, WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP? |
| The Producer or Director of the event should email the vital information or a press release to reviews@my8by10.com, or via fax to (732) 254-4459. We will contact you if we can schedule a reviewer to come out to your event. For film submissions, use the above contact methods and we will respond with an address to send your VHS screening copy. |
